Vichy

Vichy. The power of thermal water

Vichy (Vichy Laboratoires) is a French cosmetics company that manufactures face and body skin care products, as well as anti-ageing cosmetics. In 1955, the brand was bought by L'Oréal, and now Vichy is one of the "active cosmetics" brands of the L'Oréal group (the second similar brand in this group is La Roche-Posay).

The idea for the brand came from nature itself: the healing properties of the thermal springs in the French city of Vichy had long been known. As a result, the water from one of them (the Lukas spring) began to be used in the production of therapeutic cosmetics. This happened in 1931, when a young specialist from Parfums Grenoville, Georges Guérin, consulted Dr. Prosper Aller about a chronic wound on his leg. Aller was head of the Vichy Thermal Society at the time and was able to cure Guérin by irrigating the wound with thermal water from the Lukas spring, which marked the beginning of the rise of the Vichy Laboratoires brand.

By the 1950s, Vichy products had moved from shops to pharmacies, significantly raising the company's status. Now these cosmetics were recommended by pharmacists, as Vichy's developments were based on scientific achievements, just like pharmacy products. This status remains to this day.

The Vichy range includes various lines of cosmetics designed to solve all pressing skin problems:

  • Aqualia Thermal – hydration;
  • Nutrilogie – deep nourishment;
  • Pureté Thermale – gentle cleansing;
  • Normaderm – sebum regulation;
  • LiftActiv and Slow Age – anti-ageing series.

In addition, the Vichy brand produces sunscreen, deodorants, hair care products, and foundation. The range also includes a line of face and body care products for men – Vichy Homme.

The thermal water used as the basis for all Vichy cosmetics contains 15 unique minerals with a whole range of beneficial properties (protection, regeneration, soothing, skin strengthening). Vichy products have received unanimous approval from pharmacists and medical experts and are successfully sold in more than 60 countries around the world.
