DUOFLECT, spot-on antiparasitic solution for dogs 20-40 kg - 3 pipettes
Description
Duoflect spot-on solution for dogs 20-40 kg (3 pipettes).
- Indications
Treatment and prevention of flea and/or tick infestations.

Treatment and prevention of tick infestations (Dermacentor reticulatus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus). The product has an immediate and persistent acaricidal effect for 6 weeks after application.
The product can be used as part of a treatment strategy to control flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) when it has been diagnosed by a veterinarian.

Do not use in rabbits as adverse reactions and even mortality may occur.
Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substances or any of the excipients.
Do not use in sick animals (such as those with systemic diseases, fever) or convalescent animals.
- Target species
Dogs 20-40 kg
- Dosage
Dogs 10-20 kg - Dogs 20-40 kg - Dogs 40-60 kg.
One pipette per animal corresponding to the minimum recommended dose of 12 mg/kg bw of fipronil and 6 mg/kg bw of (S)-methoprene.
Treatment may be repeated every 6 weeks or when appropriate for the type and level of parasite load. In the absence of appropriate studies, treatment may not be repeated at intervals of less than 2 weeks.
- Route of administration
Spot-on administration.
- Method of administration
Applying the solution to the base of the neck minimizes the possibility of the animal licking the solution. Care should be taken to ensure that animals do not lick each other's solution after application.
Also, excessive wetting of the hair should be avoided as this will lead to a sticky appearance of the hair at the treatment site.
- Special precautions for use in animals
For external use only. Do not take orally.
Avoid contact with the animal's eyes. If the product comes into contact with the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
Do not apply the product to skin with wounds or skin lesions.
Allow the application site to dry before allowing the treated animal to come into contact with furniture or valuable fabrics. It is important to ensure that the veterinary medicinal product is applied directly to an area of dry skin where the animal cannot lick it and to ensure that animals do not lick each other after treatment.
In the absence of additional safety studies, do not repeat treatment at intervals of less than 2 weeks.
The safety of the product has not been established for dogs younger than 8 weeks of age or with a body weight (bw) of less than 2 kg.
- Special warnings for each target species
Individual cases of ticks attaching after treatment cannot be ruled out. Consequently, the transmission of infectious diseases cannot be completely ruled out in the event of unfavorable conditions.
All stages of flea development can infest animal bedding, bedding and common resting places such as carpets or furniture. In cases of massive flea infestations, the first steps to be taken are to treat these surfaces with appropriate insecticide products. To reduce the environmental infestation with fleas, all animals living in the same space should also be dewormed with an appropriate flea product.
For the treatment and control of flea allergy dermatitis, it is recommended that allergic patients and all other animals in the home be dewormed regularly.
- Dogs
The effect of bathing on the duration of the product's effectiveness against fleas was studied.
Weekly immersion of dogs in water after treatment had no effect on the duration of efficacy. Shampooing dogs with an emollient shampoo 48 hours before treatment had no effect on the duration of efficacy. Weekly shampooing of dogs with an emollient shampoo may reduce the duration of efficacy by 3 weeks against adult fleas and by 6 weeks against immature fleas. Weekly bathing with chlorhexidine shampoos may reduce the efficacy against adult fleas by 3 weeks.
Fipronil and (S)-methoprene may have adverse effects on aquatic organisms. Dogs should not be allowed to swim in watercourses for 2 days after treatment.
