Hotgen SARS-CoV-2 antigen test (nasal swab)

The Hotgen SARS-CoV-2 antigen test is for single use and is used to detect the SARS-CoV-2 antigen using a human nasal swab. It is used for rapid testing in suspected cases of coronavirus.

A positive test result indicates that the samples contain SARS-CoV-2 antigen. The antigen test has a high specificity of 99.76% and a sensitivity of 96.62%, providing a reliable result within 15 minutes. A negative test result does not rule out the possibility of infection.

Components of the test:

SARS-CoV-2 antigen test cartridge

Extraction solution in the tube

Disposable virus sampling swab

Biohazard sample bags (for safe disposal via household waste)

Application note:

Apply hand sanitizer before starting the test.

Gently insert the soft tip of the swab into one nostril until you feel resistance. Rub the swab around the inside of the nose in a circular motion for a total of 15 seconds. Repeat the same process with the same swab in the other nostril.

Immerse the swab with the sample into the tube containing the extraction solution. Rotate the swab for at least 15 seconds and squeeze out the excess liquid.

The liquid in the tube is the sample and should be tested within one hour.

Open the aluminium pouch of the test cassette and place the test cassette on a flat surface.

Place 4 drops of the sample onto the sample hole of the test cassette.

The test result can be read after 15 to 20 minutes.

For disposal via household waste, place the test cassette, tube and swab into the biohazard sample bag and seal it.

Reapply hand sanitizer after the test

In case of a positive test result (2 colored fields in the observation window), please consult a doctor immediately.

Storage and shelf life information

The kit should be stored at temperatures between 4 and a maximum of 30°C.

After opening the foil pouch, the test should be used within 30 minutes at room temperature (temperature 10 - 30 °C, humidity ≤ 70%).
