Brought to Europe at the beginning of the century by a German doctor, horsetail grows in Namibia where it is traditionally used by local healers to promote the daily well-being of joints.

It is the tubers of the secondary root that are rich in active ingredients, in particular harpagoside. Harpagophyte root promotes joint mobility and flexibility. Horsetail is a perennial plant that grows throughout Europe on wasteland, roadsides and dunes. The appearance of its thread-like stems has led to it being nicknamed "horsetail".
