Mitosyl

The Mitosyl range includes several forms of presentation adapted to different hygiene and care needs: ointment, cream, wet wipes, cleansing gel, bath oil or balm.

Mitosyl Protective Ointment is a thick dermatological cream, available in 65 g tubes, designed to protect areas that are irritated or exposed to friction and moisture.

Mitosyl natural wet wipes, fragrance-free and alcohol-free, are used for gentle cleansing of baby's skin.

Mitosyl products are recommended for:

• Preventing and treating nappy rash caused by prolonged skin contact with urine, faeces or moisture.
• Protecting sensitive areas (skin folds, armpits, elbows, knees) against friction and maceration.
• Soothing redness and skin discomfort caused by nappies, perspiration or external factors.
• Care for sensitive adult skin, especially in cases of mild dermatitis or mechanical irritation.

The method of use varies depending on the type of product:

• Mitosyl ointment and cream should be applied 1–3 times a day in a thin layer to clean, dry skin, especially after each nappy change. The product does not need to be rinsed off.
• Mitosyl wipes can be used as often as needed for gentle skin cleansing. They do not contain alcohol and can also be used on the face.

Regular adherence to these routines helps prevent recurrent irritation and maintain optimal skin hydration.

The use of Mitosyl products is contraindicated in the following situations:

• Known allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients (zinc oxide, lanolin, cod liver oil, natural fragrances).
• Open skin lesions or active skin infections where local application could aggravate inflammation.
• Application to mucous membranes (nasal, oral, internal genital) – the products are intended for external use only.

Mitosyl products are specially formulated for babies' fragile skin, in accordance with the principles of paediatric dermatology. They have a non-occlusive texture, allowing the skin to breathe, and form a protective barrier that prevents direct contact with irritants.

Mitosyl can also be used by adults with sensitive skin or immobile elderly people to prevent bedsores or skin maceration.

Adverse effects are rare and usually mild. They may include:

• allergic skin reactions (erythema, pruritus, localised rashes);
• transient feeling of dryness or discomfort upon application;
• hypersensitivity reactions to fragrances or lanolin.

All Mitosyl products are dermatologically tested and hypoallergenic, but it is recommended to perform a local test on a small area of skin before first use, especially in newborns.

There are no known significant interactions between Mitosyl products and other topical or systemic medicines. However, caution is advised when using other corticosteroid or antifungal ointments at the same time, as these may alter the pH and local absorption.

Also, applying Mitosyl immediately after other creams or oils may reduce the adhesion of the protective layer. 

No cases of overdose associated with the use of Mitosyl products have been reported. In case of accidental ingestion (e.g. by a child), immediate medical advice should be sought, although the toxicological risk is low due to the non-reactive composition and lack of systemic active substances.

Mitosyl products should be stored at room temperature (15–25°C), away from direct sources of heat, excessive moisture and sunlight. Tubes and containers should be tightly closed after each use to prevent bacterial contamination. Observe the expiry date stated on the packaging.
