Vagisan

The Vagisan range consists of three types of products, two of which (Vagisan ovules and Vagisan Moistcream) are recommended for vaginal dryness, and a third for intimate hygiene (Vagisan intimate lotion). There are no differences in the indications for ovules vs cream, the differences being in terms of application and personal preference. Vagisan Moistcream and Vagisan ovules have a dual effect, moisturising and providing nourishing lipids. The cream also contains lactic acid, with a pH of 4.5, similar to the normal pH of the vagina. This product does not contain hormones and can be used in parallel with hormone replacement therapy.

Vagisan intimate lotion is a cleansing lotion enriched with chamomile that gently cleanses and soothes the skin.

What is Vagisan Moistcream used for? The cream both moisturises and nourishes the vaginal mucosa. Its lactic acid concentration also maintains the normal pH of the vagina. It can be used in all cases of vaginal dryness manifested by a feeling of dryness, burning, itching or pain. The cream can also be used before sexual intercourse, but keep in mind that using it during sex can mess with condoms and intravaginal devices (pessaries and diaphragms). What is Vagisan cream used for during sexual intercourse: it helps with lubrication and can be used both inside the vagina and applied to the external genital organs, being a good adjuvant for women who experience pain during sexual intercourse. However, it should be noted that pain during sexual intercourse can mask other conditions and a gynaecological consultation is necessary to rule out other conditions.

What is Vagisan ovules used for: The structure of Vagisan ovules is similar to that of a cream, except that the ovule is inserted into the vagina, where it melts at vaginal temperature, forming a cream together with the vaginal fluid.

Vagisan intimate hygiene lotion is used as an adjunct in the treatment of intimate infections and can be used at any age, including during pregnancy.

Vagisan menopause: You can use Vagisan menopause to relieve discomfort caused by vaginal dryness. However, using Vagisan menopause will only provide short-term relief of symptoms, which will return after you stop using it.

If you are pregnant, it is recommended to use Vagisan ovules, which can be inserted with your finger, rather than the cream, which requires application with a device. This may cause damage to the cervix.

Do not use Vagisan intimate lotion inside the vagina, as this may lead to an imbalance in the microbial flora and promote infections. Vagisan intimate lotion is only to be used for cleaning the external genital area.

The manufacturer recommends daily use of Vagisan Moistcream and ovules until symptoms improve, after which applications may be less frequent, 2-3 times a week.

Vagisan can be used for longer periods of time and is permitted during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

For both Vagisan cream and Vagisan ovules, occasional side effects include local irritation (itching and burning), sometimes accompanied by discharge. In rare cases, the irritation may be more severe and hypersensitivity reactions (allergy) may occur. In such cases, stop using Vagisan and consult a doctor.

Vagisan ovules are not suitable for treating Candida. Do not use Vagisan to treat candidiasis, except as a supportive measure for external hygiene with Vagisan intimate lotion. Candidiasis requires special antifungal treatment to prevent the infection from worsening and becoming chronic.
