The Actisorb Plus 25 medical device is a dressing containing activated carbon and silver that enables the cleansing of infected wounds or those at risk of infection.

Composition

The product is made of a layer of activated carbon with silver, which is placed in a non-stick nylon jacket.

Action

Actisorb Plus 25 demonstrates a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity, including multidrug-resistant strains of bacteria such as MRSA and VRE. Activated carbon absorbs unpleasant odors, bacteria, and toxins, while the addition of silver combats microorganisms within the carbon layer. Furthermore, the dressing does not adhere to wounds, making removal painless.

Indications

The product is indicated for use on various types of chronic wounds (e.g. leg ulcers, pressure sores, or diabetic foot), post-traumatic and surgical wounds, wounds healing through granulation, cancerous wounds infected with fungi, areas contaminated with bacteria, infected or emitting an unpleasant odor.

How to use a medical device

1. Moisten the dressing with saline solution or Ringer's solution.
2. Apply the dressing directly to the wound or over another non-adherent dressing.
3. Secure everything with a secondary dressing.

Actisorb Plus 25 can be left on for up to 7 days, but the frequency of dressing changes depends on the condition of the wound and the amount of exudate. In the initial phase of treatment, if the wound contains large amounts of purulent material, the dressing should be changed daily; in wounds at risk of infection, it is recommended to change it every 2-3 days. In later phases of treatment, the dressing can be changed every 3-7 days, as needed.

Contraindications and precautions

Single use product, do not reuse.
Do not cut or remove the wrapping containing the carbon filter, as this may cause the dressing to come apart and carbon fibres to enter the wound.
Keep out of reach of children.
