It has been designed to complement the daily requirement for essential fatty acids from the Omega-3 family and the included group of vitamins, trace elements, and carotenoids such as lutein and zeaxanthin. Sufficient intake of these through the diet, supplemented when necessary, promotes proper ocular function. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid that constitutes an important part of the retinal structure and, therefore, plays a role in visual development and normal ocular function. Lutein, along with zeaxanthin, actively accumulates in the healthy macula to achieve the highest concentration of carotenoids in the human body, helping to protect the eye from the effects of visible light. Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal vision. Vitamins C and E help ensure the antioxidant protection of the body's cells.
