Choose the appropriate cuff for the size of your child's or newborn's arm.
Place the cuff around the child's arm, 2-3 cm above the elbow.
Make sure the cuff is snug, but not too tight.
Inflate the cuff by turning the pressure wheel until you can no longer hear the pulse through the stethoscope.
Slowly deflate the cuff through the pressure wheel, listening with the stethoscope. The first sound is the systolic pressure, and when the sounds disappear, you have the diastolic pressure.
Read the values on the manometer when the sounds corresponding to systolic and diastolic pressure were detected.
Completely release the air from the cuff and carefully remove it from your arm.
