Description
The Meriden Impulso 2 is a small, portable, fingertip-based pulse oximeter for non-invasive measurement of blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂) and pulse rate (PR). The device provides fast and accurate readings of blood oxygen levels and heart rate, making it an indispensable tool for daily health monitoring.
The Impulso 2 pulse oximeter is lightweight, fits in your pocket, and can be carried with you at all times – ideal for active people, seniors, and patients with respiratory or circulatory problems.
The pulse oximeter has a wide range of applications – it can be used in:
- home,
- doctors' offices,
- hospitals (including intensive care, anesthesiology, surgery, and pediatrics departments),
- care institutions,
- rehabilitation centers,
- oxygen bars,
- recreational and sports applications (for measurement before or after exercise).
Pulse oximeter – what is it for and what does it measure?
The Impulso 2 pulse oximeter measures oxygen saturation (the actual amount) of oxyhemoglobin (HbO2) in the artery and heart rate in the human body, via the blood vessels in the finger. The device is completely non-invasive – it is based on digital technology and uses optical light transmission.
Blood saturation – what is it?
Oxygen saturation (SpO₂) is a measure of the percentage of hemoglobin in the blood that is saturated with oxygen. Simply put, it determines how effectively the blood transports oxygen to tissues and organs. It is an important physiological parameter that plays a crucial role in respiration and blood circulation in the body. The saturation value is expressed as a percentage and refers to the ratio of oxyhemoglobin (HbO₂)—hemoglobin bound to oxygen—to the total amount of hemoglobin (Hb) in the body.
Normal saturation values:
- Optimal value: approx. 98%
- Normal range: 94–98%
A value below 94% may indicate hypoxia and requires consultation with a doctor.
Additional parameters monitored by the pulse oximeter
Heart rate (PR):
- Heart rate is the number of heart beats per minute.
- Normal range: 60–90 beats/min in an adult at rest.
Perfusion Index (PI):
- Shows the quality of blood circulation at the measurement site (e.g. on the finger).
- Helps assess the reliability of the measurement.
- PI value in a healthy person: 3% or more.
- Measurement possible even with weak blood flow.
Measuring oxygen saturation and heart rate is quick, painless, and completely non-invasive – simply place the pulse oximeter on your finger. It's a simple way to continuously monitor one of your key vital signs.
