Description
Food for medical purposes indicated for the dietary management of low birth weight infants or infants born prematurely.
Specially formulated for the fortification of breast milk, in accordance with the criteria established by the ESPGHAN 2010 document for the nutrition of premature infants with low birth weight.
Combined with preterm milk, it provides 3.6 g/100 kcal of protein. It contains a lipid blend consisting of medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) and DHA.

How to use
Before preparing, wash your hands and sterilize administration devices. Prepare a single meal and administer immediately.
The doses administered are indicative and may be modified, based on the doctor's recommendations, depending on the weight and age of premature/low birth weight infants.
The standard fortification level is 1 g in 25 ml of breast milk. It is recommended to gradually increase the dose, starting at 2 g in 100 ml of breast milk. After assessing tolerability over 24 hours, increase the fortification (up to 4 g in 100 ml of breast milk) or follow the instructions established by your hospital.

Prepare one device (bottle, syringe, or enteral feeding container) at a time and administer immediately.
If your breast milk is frozen, thaw it gradually in the refrigerator (below 4°C). Do not use the microwave or leave it at room temperature to thaw.
Shake/mix breast milk before pouring into the device. Pour only the required amount of breast milk to be fortified into the chosen device. Warm breast milk to body temperature before adding the fortifier. Do not microwave.
Add the required amount of Nestlé preNAN Breast Milk Fortifier FM 85 to the desired amount of warm breast milk (35-40°C), following the standard preparation (1 g in 25 ml of breast milk) or a specific reconstitution, if recommended by your doctor. Re-close the cap and shake gently until the powder is completely dissolved and administer immediately.
For enteral nutrition: After preparing fortified breast milk, use within 4 hours.

warnings
Breast milk is the ideal food, even for premature or low birth weight babies. Breastfeeding should be continued for as long as possible.
Incorrect reconstitution may cause health risks to the infant.
For use predominantly in hospital, use under medical supervision.
Supervise the infant during administration; do not leave him alone to avoid choking.
It is not a complete food.
Not suitable for use in infants with known allergy to cow's milk proteins, lactose intolerance and congenital metabolic diseases such as galactosemia/glucose-galactose malabsorption.
It is not administered parenterally.
Never store leftover fortified milk after each meal. Opened sachets should be used immediately or discarded.

Conservation
Store in a dry place, away from heat sources.
Shelf life with intact packaging: 18 months.
