What is policosanol?
Policosanol is a mixture of polycarbonate alcohols derived from plant waxes, primarily sugarcane waxes such as sugarcane ( Saccharum officinarum ). The dominant component in policosanol is octasanol, an eight-carbon alcohol.
Policosanol 20 mg capsules from the American brand Swanson ® use the patented raw material BioCosanol ® . It comes from the extraction of sugar cane waxes and contains, among other things, valuable octasanol.
