Xailin

The Xailin range contains essential products for the care of dry eyes. The products include:

• Xailin HA – contains 0.2% sodium hyaluronate
• Xailin Hydrate – contains 0.3% hypromellose
• Xailin Fresh – single doses containing 0.5% sodium carmellose

Xailin HA contains sodium hyaluronate and sodium perborate in a buffered aqueous vehicle.

Xailin HA contains a highly purified fraction of sodium chloride of hyaluronic acid produced by bacterial fermentation and therefore does not contain animal proteins.

Xailin HA contains a preservative that disappears and turns into water and oxygen on contact with the eye, minimising the irritation that can be caused by traditional preservatives, while offering the convenience of a container that allows multiple doses.

Xailin Hydrate contains hypromellose instead of sodium hyaluronate, which ensures longer-lasting lubrication in the eye area.

Xailin Fresh contains sodium carmellose, sodium chloride, calcium chloride dihydrate, magnesium chloride dextrahydrate, potassium chloride, sodium hydroxide, sodium lactate solution, hydrochloric acid and water for injections.

Thanks to its ingredients, Xailin provides lubricating protection for the eyes, used to relieve moderate or even severe symptoms of dry, irritated eyes.

One of the ingredients in Xailin is sodium hyaluronate, which is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a biocompatible polysaccharide found in nature with unique viscoelastic and hygroscopic properties. In the eye, hyaluronic acid is found in the vitreous, lacrimal gland, corneal epithelium, conjunctiva and human tear fluid. Hyaluronic acid has mucoadhesive properties and the ability to bind water and is known to influence water distribution in the corneal stroma. This, together with the coating properties of hyaluronic acid, results in an increase in precorneal dwell time and tear film break-up time and, therefore, longer lubrication of the corneal surface. Hyaluronic acid is currently added to contact lens products to enhance the wettability and comfort of contact lenses.

Xailin is used to lubricate and protect the eye in certain eye conditions. Xailin provides soothing relief from symptoms of dry eye, such as pain, irritation or a gritty feeling in the eyes.

Symptoms of dry eyes occur as a result of disorders of the eye surface that can be caused by a number of reasons, in which normal tears are either of poor quality or produced in too small a quantity to keep the eye sufficiently moist.

The usual dose of Xailin is one or two drops applied 2-4 times a day, as needed, or as directed by your doctor.

Read the package leaflet for each product in the Xailin range carefully to find out the recommended dose.

Xailin can also be used by people who wear contact lenses without having to remove them first.

Wait at least 30 minutes between using Xailin and any other eye medicines.

Do not use Xailin if you notice that the seal on the bottle is broken.

Do not use Xailin if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the product.

After using Xailin, you may experience slight blurred vision. Wait until your vision is clear again before driving or using machines.

It is recommended to consult a specialist before using Xailin:

• People who have recently undergone an ophthalmic procedure;
• Women who are pregnant or wish to become pregnant;
• Women who are breastfeeding.
