A medical device in the form of a sterile hydrogel dressing. Designed for the treatment of chronic wounds, burns, and abrasions, this dressing easily adheres to the skin, even in problematic areas such as the face or joints.

Product characteristics

Aqua-Gel provides a moist environment on the wound surface, which supports autolytic debridement of dead tissue and promotes wound granulation. The dressing adheres well to the wound surface but does not stick to it, making application and removal painless. The product has absorbent properties: it absorbs wound exudate and retains it, along with bacteria, within its structure. Aqua-Gel is flexible, allowing for dressing of difficult-to-access body parts, such as the face and joint areas. Its transparency allows for observation of the wound surface. It can be used as a secondary dressing for many medications and preparations applied directly to the wound. Aqua-Gel's unique structure provides a barrier to external bacteria while allowing the wound to "breathe." Furthermore, the dressing has a soothing effect on superficial burns and swelling caused by insect bites, for example. Using the Aqua-Gel medical device also reduces the formation of hypertrophic scars. The dressing is hypoallergenic – it does not cause allergies.

Indications

Supportively in the treatment of:

• burns,
• leg ulcers,
• superficial pressure ulcers,
• other chronic wounds, e.g. diabetic foot, Epidermolysis Bullosa ,
• abrasions and other skin damage.

How to use a medical device

TREATMENT OF BURNS WITH AQUA-GEL DRESSING
Surfaces damaged by high temperatures should be cooled as quickly as possible with cold water for 15 minutes, and then temporarily covered with an Aqua-Gel dressing. Further treatment depends on the depth and extent of the burn. Changing the dressing is easy and painless because Aqua-Gel, unlike traditional dressings, does not adhere to the wound. To prevent the dressing from drying out too quickly, a layer of gauze moistened with saline solution can be placed on its outer surface.

FIRST DEGREE BURNS SUNBURN
For burns manifesting as erythema and localized pain without visible skin damage, the most important step is to cover the skin with an Aqua-Gel dressing as soon as possible. This cools the burned area and prevents blistering. The Aqua-Gel dressing ensures proper heat exchange and moisture balance, and also acts as an effective barrier against external infection. During the initial days of treatment, the dressing should be changed every 12-24 hours.

SECOND AND THIRD DEGREE BURNS
Apply an Aqua-Gel dressing to second- and third-degree burn wounds as soon as possible and seek immediate medical attention. Aqua-Gel will cool the injured area, reduce pain, and protect against infection.
Using Aqua-Gel dressings facilitates the removal of necrotic tissue. On average, treatment time with Aqua-Gel dressings is half that of traditional dressings. Aqua-Gel dressings should be applied until a dry surface is achieved, with visible, evenly growing epidermis.
If blisters occur, they should be removed after 1-2 days of treatment and treatment should be continued with Aqua-Gel dressing.

ULCERS
Aqua-Gel dressings maintain a moist environment on the ulcer surface, preventing it from drying out and preventing fibrin buildup. In this way, Aqua-Gel dressings promote wound cleansing and subsequent granulation and epithelialization of the ulcer surface. Aqua-Gel dressings can be used in conjunction with compression therapy to treat venous ulcers.
The use of compression therapy does not significantly affect the absorbency of the dressing. The frequency of dressing changes depends on the amount of exudate and is usually every 1-3 days.
Compression therapy should not be used in ulcers caused by arterial blood flow disorders due to atherosclerosis. Wound management is similar to that for ulcers.

PRESSURE SORES
Aqua-Gel is used in the treatment of pressure ulcers in various stages of healing. In the case of pressure ulcers with necrosis, it accelerates autolytic debridement. In the case of necrosis, Aqua-Gel can be used as a secondary dressing for enzymatic, bactericidal, and liquid hydrogel preparations applied directly to the wound. In this situation, it is recommended to keep the dressing on the wound for no longer than one day.

Contraindications and precautions

Aqua-Gel dressing is not recommended for wounds with a large amount of softening necrosis, with signs of infection, with a large amount of exudate, or with purulent content.
In these situations, surgical debridement of the wound is necessary before starting Aqua-Gel treatment.
