Vitamin B9 increases maternal folate levels. Sufficient intake before and during pregnancy promotes the correct development of the fetus, in particular with regard to the development of the neural tube. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 400μg or more, at least one month before conception and up to three months after conception.

Each Densmore Folic Expert 5-MHTF tablet contains 600 µg of vitamin B9 (or 5-MHTF), 1.4 mg of vitamin B6 and 0.38 µg of vitamin B12:

• Extra vitamin B9 increases maternal folate status. A low maternal folate level is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus.
• The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of at least 400 µg of folic acid, at least one month before conception and up to three months after.
