PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION

Methylene blue 1% has an antiseptic and analgesic action on various damaged tissues (wounds, burns, abrasions, bedsores, frostbite, glossitis, etc.), promoting healing. Administered in drinking water, it is rapidly absorbed from the digestive tract, activating the redox processes in the body, being particularly useful in hypoxia, methemoglobinemia. The mode of action is the reduction of heme from methemoglobin to hemoglobin. It is eliminated from the body through urine, which it colors green - bluish, acting as an antiseptic of the excretory system.

• pet birds (peacocks, ornamental pheasants, racing and ornamental pigeons, canaries, parakeets)
• aquarium fish.

Directions

The product is recommended for the disinfection of drinking water, as a urinary antiseptic, in local applications on wounds (rubs, bedsores, frostbite, burns) of the skin and mucous membranes, as an antidote in sulfamide poisoning, in hypoxia, methemoglobinemia. Associated with glucose, it favors its oxidation, allowing rapid energizing of hypodynamic animals.
The product is also used in the treatment of gingivitis, glossitis, pharyngitis and laryngitis.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

When administered orally, in gingivitis, pharyngitis and laryngitis in dogs and cats, an unpleasant taste may occur.

METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION

In birds

• preventive - for water disinfection, 5 - 7 ml of 1% methylene blue solution per 1 liter of drinking water is used for 7 - 14 days
• curative: for water disinfection in case of infectious diseases, administer 15 ml of 1% solution per 1 liter of water for 2 - 3 days.

In dogs and cats, it can be administered orally, daily, in gingivitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, in an amount of 1 - 2 ml (10 - 20 mg of active substance).

Topically it is used for burns, wounds, abrasions, bedsores, frostbite, glossitis in 1% aqueous solutions.
For fish – for water disinfection, administer 0.3 ml per 1 liter of water. A single administration is sufficient for fungi, and for protozoa for 3 - 5 days. It is also administered for 3 - 5 days if the fish have cyanide and nitrite poisoning.
