Edenorm is a hypertonic ophthalmic solution used to treat corneal oedema. It contains 5% sodium chloride and other ingredients that together reduce eye discomfort, support visual quality and prevent secondary complications that can be caused by oedema.
Forms of release
Edenorm free is available in a 10 ml bottle of ophthalmic solution.
Indications
Edenorm drops are indicated for the treatment of corneal oedema. They improve visual quality, reduce eye discomfort and help prevent possible secondary complications of oedema, such as infections or ulcerations. Corneal oedema is a condition in which the cornea swells due to fluid accumulation. This can be caused by various factors, including eye trauma, infections, inflammatory diseases or eye surgery. Sodium chloride helps in the treatment of corneal oedema through several mechanisms. First, it has an osmotic effect, which means it can draw excess fluid from the cornea, thereby reducing swelling. By applying the solution locally, osmotic pressures can be balanced and fluid accumulation in the cornea can be reduced. Sodium chloride also helps cleanse the cornea and remove irritants or foreign particles that may contribute to oedema. Last but not least, it helps maintain good eye hydration, which can support the healing process.
Dosage and administration
Edenorm ophthalmic solution is applied to the conjunctival sac – 1-2 drops 4 times a day or as recommended by your doctor.
Contraindications
Edenorm drops are contraindicated in case of allergy or sensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Interactions with other medicines and food
No drug interactions are known. However, it is advisable to inform your doctor about any other eye treatments you are using. These should not be applied simultaneously.
