Kolicare

Kolicare comes in the form of a yellow liquid suspension, packaged in an 8 ml plastic dropper bottle.

The pharmaceutical form emphasises ease of oral administration, making it suitable even for infants and newborns. The drops are formulated in an oily carrier (refined sunflower oil) and maltodextrin, which facilitate the stability of probiotic bacteria.

Kolicare is recommended for:

• Prevention and relief of infant colic;
• Reduction of functional constipation;
• Restoration of intestinal flora balance;
• Support for healthy microbiota development;
• Reduction in the duration and frequency of excessive crying episodes in infants;
• For both breastfed and formula-fed infants.

These benefits are supported by clinical studies demonstrating the effectiveness of the combination of B. longum CECT 7894 and P. pentosaceus CECT 8330 strains in reducing colic symptoms within just one week of starting administration.

The recommended dose is 5 drops per day, administered in a single dose, for at least 3 weeks. Administration may be prolonged if necessary, without risk. For infants, the drops can be mixed with milk (at a temperature not exceeding 37°C) or administered directly into the mouth, regardless of mealtimes.

It is recommended that the bottle be warmed slightly in the hands before use to facilitate dispersion of the contents.

The product should not be used in the following cases:

• Known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients;
• Patients who are severely immunocompromised or undergoing immunosuppressive treatment;
• People in special circumstances, such as pregnancy or breastfeeding, without consulting a healthcare professional.

The supplement does not contain common allergens, and supporting the intestinal flora with probiotics is considered one of the most effective methods of preventing early gastrointestinal disorders.

Regular administration contributes to the maturation of the digestive system, faster digestion of oligosaccharides in breast milk and a reduction in intestinal inflammation.

To date, no adverse reactions have been reported following the use of Kolicare. However, in rare cases, individual reactions of intolerance or hypersensitivity to the ingredients may occur. Parents are advised to monitor their infant's behaviour after administration and consult their paediatrician in case of unusual reactions.

No significant interactions between Kolicare and other medicines or foods have been reported.

However, caution is advised when taking it at the same time as antibiotics, as these may affect the viability of probiotic bacteria. In such cases, it is recommended to take Kolicare at least 2 hours after the antibiotic.

The product can be taken regardless of mealtimes.

Kolicare contains beneficial bacteria that are not pathogenic, so the risk of overdose is considered very low. However, exceeding the recommended daily dose is not recommended, as excessive intake of probiotics may lead to mild transient digestive disorders (bloating, flatulence).

In case of accidental ingestion of a larger amount, it is recommended to monitor the child and consult a doctor.

The product should be stored at room temperature (15–25°C) in a dry place away from direct sunlight. The product should not be frozen. Once opened, the bottle should be used within 30 days. Keep out of the reach and sight of small children.

The appearance of visible bacterial aggregates in the bottle is normal. Vigorous shaking ensures complete resuspension of the contents.
