Vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol is a hormone involved in bone mineralization thanks to its action of binding calcium to mineralized tissues (bones, cartilage and teeth). Vitamin D is present in foods and in the human body in the form of a precursor transformed by the action of UVB rays. Only some foods contain vitamin D, especially meat, eggs and milk.
