Black cumin ( Nigella sativa ) is commonly known as Egyptian black cumin. OleoVitum black cumin oil, obtained from its seeds by cold pressing, has a characteristic flavor and aroma. Furthermore, black cumin oil is characterized by a high content of unsaturated fats, including polyunsaturated fats, which include omega-6 fatty acids.

Linoleic acid (LA) is an omega-6 fatty acid that helps maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. Beneficial effects are obtained with a daily intake of 10 g of LA. Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats in the diet helps maintain normal blood cholesterol levels (mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids are unsaturated fats).
