Himalayan salt stands out both for its color and for its properties. It is called so because it is extracted from the Khewra mine, in Pakistan, located near the foothills of the Himalayas.
The pink and black are provided by the minerals it contains, besides sodium chloride.
Refined white salt is 99% sodium chloride and is obtained through processing.
Himalayan salt has 87% sodium chloride in its composition, the rest representing other minerals, including magnesium, calcium, iron potassium.
