4711 is a classic among colognes. This legendary fragrance was created by Wilhelm Mulhens in 1792 based on the Farina cologne formula. It takes its name from the location where it was created, the Glockengasse 4711 manufactory. 4711 is also one of two colognes composed according to the traditional formula.
