Characteristics:

This dressing is an activated charcoal dressing with silver, encased in a non-adherent nylon sheath. The activated charcoal not only eliminates odors but also binds bacteria and bacterial toxins within the dressing. The Actisorb Silver 220 dressing is effective in vitro against 150 microorganisms associated with wound infections, including MRSA and VRE. Studies show that the dressing has an effective antimicrobial effect without damaging host cells or inhibiting fibroblast proliferation. The Actisorb Silver 220 dressing eliminates unpleasant odors, thus improving patient comfort. Since odor problems can be associated with wound exudate, the Actisorb Silver 220 dressing also removes exudate and helps maintain a moist wound environment.

Areas of application:
Indicated for the treatment of bacterial contamination, infection, and odor in a variety of wounds, including:

• Pressure ulcers
• Ulcers of various etiologies
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Breakthrough carcinomas
• Traumatic and surgical wounds where bacterial contamination, infection, or odor is present.
