PATIENT ADVICE

PATIENT ADVICE: - The area to be treated should be thoroughly cleaned and dried before application. - Corticosteroid products should not be used on children without a prescription. It is also advisable to avoid administering them to large areas of skin. - Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. Wash your hands thoroughly after application. If it accidentally gets into the eyes, rinse them with water. - Do not apply cosmetics or other skin care products to the affected area without first consulting a doctor. - Unless prescribed by a doctor, do not apply any type of bandage to the treated area or cover it. If applied to children in the diaper area, avoid using tight diapers or plastic pants. - If the application has been prolonged, it is advisable to gradually discontinue the medication to avoid relapses of the disease. - The use of hydrocortisone should not exceed the period of time recommended by the doctor.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

PREGNANCY

- Hydrocortisone: FDA Category C. Safety during pregnancy has not been established. INDICATIONS

LACTATION

- It is unknown whether topical hydrocortisone is excreted in breast milk, but it is known that systemic corticosteroids are excreted in breast milk and may cause effects such as growth inhibition in the infant. Therefore, caution is advised when using topical hydrocortisone during breastfeeding. If used, it should not be applied to the breasts immediately prior to breastfeeding.

CHILDREN

- They are especially susceptible to adverse effects because absorption is greater in them. Cases of adrenal suppression, Cushing's syndrome, growth retardation, and cranial hypertension have been reported due to the systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids in children. Therefore, administration should be strictly supervised by the pediatrician.

POSOLOGY

DOSAGE:- Adults, topical: apply the ointment with gentle massages 3 or 4 times a day, on the affected painful areas.

PRECAUTIONS

- Skin conditions that cause thinning of the skin and bruising. Corticosteroids may increase skin thinning.

PRECAUTIONS RELATING TO EXCIPIENTS

- This medicine contains propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

* Hydrocortisone: They are greater if occlusive dressings are used, as well as if it is administered to patients with liver failure (hydrocortisone is metabolized in the liver) or to children. - Local: Local effects such as [DERMATOMYCOSIS], [SKIN IRRITATION], [ITCHING] and [DRY SKIN] may appear in the application area. The use of corticosteroids for prolonged periods of time may lead to [ACNE], [HIRSUTISM], [TELANGIECTASIA], the appearance of reddish [STRETCH MARKS] on the arms, legs, face, trunk and groin, [CUTANEOUS ATROPHY] with thinning, [FOLLICILUITIS], [CUTANEOUS HYPERPIGMENTATION] and hypopigmentation, [HIRSUTISM] and [DELAYED HEALING].

OVERDOSE

- Symptoms: Topical corticosteroids applied to large areas or for prolonged periods may be absorbed in sufficient quantities to produce systemic effects. Corticosteroid overdose results in the development of Cushing's syndrome and suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. - Treatment: There is no specific antidote. The corticosteroid should be discontinued and symptomatic treatment initiated.
