The power of buds

The blackcurrant ( Ribes nigrum ): belongs to the gooseberry family and is native to European and Asian woodlands. The thornless shrub grows to between one and two meters tall and, when in bloom, bears yellowish-green leaves with brownish-red edges.

The black alder ( Alnus glutinosa ) is widespread from Europe across North Africa to West Asia. The buds of this birch relative contain a special mixture of flavonoids, polyphenols, and oligomeric proanthocyanidins, better known as OPCs.

The woolly snowball ( Viburnum lantana ): belongs to the honeysuckle family. Its distribution area includes Europe and the Caucasus region. This shrub prefers light deciduous forests, thickets, and roadsides as its habitat.

The noble fir ( Abies pectinata ): is an evergreen tree native to the higher elevations of the Cascade Mountains in the western United States. The buds of the noble fir are round and very small. They are often hidden by the tree's needles.

The dog rose (Rosa canina): It is also known as rosehip. It is a deciduous shrub belonging to the rose family and is particularly adaptable and resilient. Its fruits are the rosehips, which are rich in vitamin C. Furthermore, it contains numerous other constituents: essential oils, silica, fruit acids, tannins, pectins, lycopene and other flavonoids, as well as the vitamins provitamin A, vitamins B1 and B2, and vitamin E. Rose oil is also produced from its blossoms.
