Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids.

Carotenoids are the yellow/orange pigments found in fruits and vegetables, particularly dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach. These carotenoids, antioxidant vitamins, and the minerals zinc and selenium (as components of important antioxidant enzymes), are necessary for the proper functioning of antioxidant enzymes.

Antioxidants are beneficial for health because they protect against damage caused by free radicals produced by oxidation. This metabolic process occurs continuously in our bodies.

Free radicals are involved in a wide variety of vital processes; they are believed to play an important role in maintaining health. The carotenoids, vitamins, and minerals in Ocuvite Lutein cannot be generated or synthesized by the human body itself.

These nutrients must be obtained through diet and/or dietary supplements. This is why they are called "essential." Therefore, the use of a vitamin supplement in the diet is advisable to maintain adequate doses of vitamins and carotenoids in the body. Various factors, such as stress, dietary imbalances, and even exercise, increase vitamin and mineral requirements. Therefore, dietary supplementation is sometimes recommended.

Lutein and zeaxanthin contribute to maintaining proper eye function since they are found naturally in the eye, especially in the macula, the area responsible for central vision, where high levels of these carotenoids are found.

HOW TO USE

One tablet twice a day. Take the tablets with a little liquid during meals.
