Description
This article attempts to introduce analytical tools for describing the phenomenon of contemporary Maranism, distinct from those based on the dialectics of secularization or, more broadly, the disenchantment and determinism of late modern postsecularism. Starting from a fundamental critique of the concept of identity as a doxa of the humanities and utilizing the materialism inherent in psychoanalysis and contemporary Spinozism, the author attempts to demonstrate how the Maran is transformed from a figure of religious identification, or lack thereof, into a contemporary heteronomous "minority subject" constantly seeking a place and time for its proper expression.
