Turmeric (Curcuma longa), native to Southeast Asia, belongs to the ginger family. It is a perennial plant, similar to ginger. The rhizomes are harvested—thick and fibrous, orange in color, with thin skin. Turmeric is most often used as a spice in ethnic cuisine. The powder is slightly bitter with a strong, earthy flavor.

How to use : thanks to its universal form, turmeric is a powder and can be consumed at will, e.g. with yogurt, fruit and vegetable cocktails, or used as a spice for dishes.

For more effective absorption, you can also use turmeric as follows : mix a teaspoon of powder with 1-2 egg yolks and 1-2 teaspoons of coconut oil. Another way to increase turmeric absorption is to add it to boiling water – add 1 teaspoon of powder to 1 liter of boiling water and bring to a boil. After boiling, a 12% solution will form within 10 minutes, which can be drunk after cooling. The turmeric will gradually settle, and after 6 hours, a 6% solution will form, so it's best to drink the drink within 4 hours. The drink has a "woody" flavor.

Note - curcumin is a strong yellow pigment that can permanently stain.
