Vitamin K belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins. It occurs in various forms. Plants produce phylloquinone, or K1, which can be obtained through food. Vitamin K acts as a coenzyme in the synthesis of blood clotting factors, thus supporting blood clotting. Furthermore, vitamin K, together with calcium, is involved in the formation and maintenance of bones. Vitamin K1 is produced by plants, especially green leafy vegetables (e.g., spinach) and cruciferous vegetables; it is also found in fruits, such as strawberries, and tomatoes. Through the food chain, vitamin K also enters the diet of meat, liver, and milk. It is also present in wheat, beans, and other grains.
Vitamin K1 60µg GPH capsules contain 60µg of vitamin K1 in a hard gelatin capsule. The exact requirement can only be estimated; healthy adults have a daily requirement of 60–80µg (DACH value).
