Podbal is a phytotherapeutic medicine effective in relieving symptoms associated with respiratory conditions. The main indications for the use of Podbal include:

• Podbal has antitussive properties, which means it helps to calm coughs. It is particularly useful for irritating coughs, such as those caused by tobacco smoke or polluted air. Podbal helps to reduce the frequency and intensity of coughs, thus facilitating normal breathing.
• Podbal has an expectorant effect, which means that it helps to remove mucus and secretions from the respiratory tract. This medicine stimulates fluid secretion and promotes the liquefaction of mucus, thus facilitating its removal through coughing. Podbal is therefore recommended in cases of excessive mucus accumulation in the lungs and respiratory tract.
• Coltsfoot is effective in treating chronic bronchitis, which is characterised by persistent inflammation of the airways. Through its anti-inflammatory and expectorant effects, coltsfoot helps relieve symptoms such as persistent coughing and excessive phlegm. Regular use of coltsfoot can reduce the frequency and severity of chronic bronchitis episodes.
• Coltsfoot can be used as an adjunct in the treatment of bronchial asthma. Its anti-inflammatory and relaxing properties on the airways can help relieve asthma-related symptoms such as breathing difficulties, coughing and wheezing. It is important to note that coltsfoot should not replace the basic treatment of asthma.
• Coltsfoot may be beneficial in other inflammatory conditions of the airways, such as tracheitis or laryngitis, due to its anti-inflammatory action.

Podbal should not be used in cases of known allergy to plants of the Asteraceae family, such as chamomile, daisy or ragweed. Also, this medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years of age and during pregnancy and breastfeeding without prior medical advice.

 Podbal contains Tussilago farfara extract in the form of a standardised dry extract. Each tablet contains 50 mg of extract, equivalent to 150 mg of dry plant.

Podbal is administered orally. The recommended dose is 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day, depending on age and severity of the condition. The tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid.

It is not recommended to take Podbal during pregnancy and breastfeeding without a doctor's recommendation. As there are not enough studies to prove the safety of this medicine during these periods, it is important to seek medical advice before starting treatment with Podbal.

Podbal has no significant influence on the ability to drive vehicles or use machinery. However, if drowsiness or other side effects that may affect motor skills occur, it is recommended to avoid activities that require increased concentration.

The use of Podbal may cause minor side effects such as gastrointestinal disorders (dyspepsia), nausea, bloating or diarrhoea. If these symptoms occur and persist or worsen, it is recommended to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
