They contain cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) - an active substance that is a well-known antibacterial agent widely used in dental rinses. The antibacterial and bactericidal properties consist of a harmful effect on the cell membrane of bacteria and the inhibition of some important bacterial enzymes (transport, respiratory). An inhibitory effect of CPC on the formation of tartar and a beneficial effect on the periodontium - in the course of gingivitis - were also found. In addition, ACTIVE tampons contain sodium fluoride, which is an active substance with anti-caries properties (it forms acid-resistant compounds with enamel hydroxyapatites).
