Description
Tamari is made from natural gluten-free ingredients. Unlike the usual cheap "soy sauces", tamari contains no flavor enhancers, artificial colors or sweeteners. In addition to the four basic tastes (sweet, bitter, salty, sour), there is a fifth taste - umami. It is described as "delicious", "tastes like baking" and enhances the taste of food. This fifth taste is also found in fermented products – i.e. tamari soy sauce.
The difference between shoyu and tamari
Shoyu and tamari are quite interchangeable, with tamari retaining its flavor and aroma better when cooked. Shoyu, on the other hand, is recommended to be used as a finishing touch to a finished meal. However, it is not an iron rule.
