Description
Lactase (ß-galactosidase) is an enzyme that splits milk sugar - lactose into simple carbohydrates D-glucose and D-galactose, which, unlike lactose, are directly digestible. Lactase is produced by villi in the small intestine. The highest production of lactase is in human infancy. Then it naturally decreases. Insufficient production of the lactase enzyme in the human small intestine can be primary – the result of a natural decrease in lactase enzyme production with age (irreversible condition), secondary – the result of gastroenterological problems (reversible condition) or congenital. Lactose that is not broken down in the small intestine moves to the large intestine. In the large intestine, bacteria act on lactose, producing lactic acid, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and methane. The hydrogen is absorbed, reaches the lungs, where it is exhaled. Other substances irritate the intestinal wall.
Recommended dose:
Take 1 tablet with water before or during a meal containing lactose. If necessary, you can take 2 tablets depending on the amount of lactose in the food or your lactose tolerance. Maximum 8 tablets per day.
