Description
The preparation Pro-Osteo plus Generica contains calcium in the form of lacto/gluconate, which is very soluble in water with excellent bioavailability, has a neutral taste and dissolves without sediment residues.
Bone growth and mineralization (the deposition of mineral substances in the bones) are most intense in humans during childhood and adolescence. The maximum amount of bone mass is reached around the age of thirty, after which the amount of bone mass decreases. In women, bone loss is accelerated by the hormonal changes that occur before and during menopause. For this reason, adequate nutrition with sufficient protein, minerals and vitamins, especially calcium, vitamin D and vitamin K, daily exercise, avoiding smoking and consumption of sugary carbonated drinks and alcohol, which significantly damage bone mass, is very important in any age.
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has confirmed that calcium, vitamin D and vitamin K are necessary for maintaining healthy bones.
Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body. Up to 99% is bound to bones and teeth.
Vitamin D contributes to the proper absorption and use of calcium and phosphorus in the body.
Vitamin K is actually a group of fat-soluble vitamins. The most important are vitamins K1 and K2. Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) is found in green leafy vegetables, but is poorly absorbed, has a short bioavailability and remains mostly in the liver.
Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) is produced by bacteria in a healthy intestinal environment, but most of it is excreted in the stool. Among foods, the richest source of vitamin K2 is the traditional Japanese food natto, made from fermented boiled soybeans. Vitamin K2 is scarce in foods typical of Western society. The preparation Pro-Osteo plus Generica contains a natural form of vitamin K2, the so-called MK-7 isomer, which is obtained through a patented biofermentation process. This form has better bioavailability and stays in the blood serum longer compared to other forms of vitamin K. To achieve the maximum effect in the body, MK-7 is the optimal source of vitamin K2.
Vitamin K2 ensures that calcium reaches the bones and teeth. In addition, it contributes to bone mineralization, therefore it is necessary for the formation and maintenance of normal bone structure. The synthesis of bone proteins, of which osteocalcin is the most abundant, is dependent on vitamin K. Osteocalcin has an important role in the control of tissue mineralization and bone remodeling.
