Histoacryl tissue adhesive consists of n-butyl 2-cyanoacrylate, a monomer that polymerizes very rapidly in contact with tissue fluid. Histoacryl is available in two colors: colorless, specifically for facial applications, and blue, which allows for easy control in the various approved areas of application.

Indication:
- Skin closure: Closure of low-tension skin wounds (including clean surgical incisions and minimally invasive surgical incisions) as well as simple, thoroughly cleaned, trauma-induced lacerations.
- Sclerotherapy: Sclerotherapy of large esophageal or fundal varices.
- Mesh fixation: Fixation of hernia meshes, especially in the case of inguinal hernias.
