Patches for the care of scars Cosmos Scars, 5 cm x 7.2 cm, 5 pieces, Hartmann [4052199710495]
Description:
Silicone gel patches are non-invasive, non-active, single-use, non-sterile, self-adhesive medical devices composed of a polyurethane film coated with medical-grade adhesive silicone gel, protected by a removable transparent film.
They are intended for use as an adjuvant in:
- management of recent hypertrophic scars
- prevention of excessive scarring, such as hypertrophic scars and keloids, especially in predisposed individuals.
The patches also offer protection against UV radiation (SPF 50+), thus helping to protect the affected area. The product is designed to be applied directly by users without medical training, in a simple and safe way.
The product is intended for use in humans without age, weight, health or medical condition restrictions. It is compatible with use on intact skin, on superficially affected areas, as well as on damaged skin, being also suitable for long-term application.
Mode of action: It is believed that the occlusive effect and the increased humidity that results from it, favors an environment that helps prevent the development of abnormal scar tissue.
Benefits:
- Contributes to the prevention of the formation of abnormal scars;
- Provides SPF 50+ sun protection, helping to protect scars from UV radiation;
- They can be easily removed and reapplied (eg: for cleaning or inspecting the affected area);
- Removal is done without discomfort;
- They can be cut to the desired size;
- They are water resistant and can be worn even while showering;
- Each patch comes with a plastic storage box, useful between uses.
How to use:
• The patch can be applied immediately after wound closure (no more blood, exudate or crust on the skin) and/or removal of stitches (eg in surgical wounds). Use on older wounds has no negative effects, but is not as beneficial.
• Open the folding box and take out the instructions for use and a heat-sealed package.
• Read these instructions for use before applying and reapplying the patch.
• Wash your hands and make sure the application area is clean, dry and degreased before applying the patch. Avoid contact of the product with creams or gels, as they can reduce the adhesive capacity of the patch.
• Open (partially, if necessary) the sterile package, remove the patch and peel off the transparent protective film. If necessary, the patch can be cut to the desired size with scissors before peeling off the transparent protective film.
• Peel off the clear protective film and apply the exposed adhesive side of the patch to the wound. Gently pinch the edges of the patch to ensure optimal adhesion. Make sure the patch covers the wound completely.
Changing and removing the patch
• The patch can be removed (eg, to clean the wound and/or inspect the wound) and reapply afterwards.
• The patch is waterproof and can be kept on while showering.
• The patch should ideally be worn for 12-24 hours a day.
• It is recommended that the patch be removed every day, washed with soap and water, then allowed to dry before reapplying.
• The patch should be washed when it gets dirty.
• The reapplied patch must be removed after no more than 7 days of use or whenever its adhesive properties are no longer sufficient.
• If it is cut to the desired size: use the cut patch as a priority before removing a new one from the package to avoid potential contamination of the patch.
Storage
• After you remove the patch, it can be stored in the plastic box provided until reapplied. When storing in the plastic box, reapply the clear protective film to the exposed adhesive side of the patch.
Special precautions
• Special precautions are required in patients with dermatological conditions affecting the integrity of the skin, e.g. severe acne or psoriasis.
• Keep the patches out of the reach of children.
Precautions and contraindications:
They are not intended for use in the treatment of healing wounds, open tissue, open wounds, or wounds with incomplete re-epithelialization.
Adverse reactions
In patients who are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the components of the product, adverse reactions may occur.
