Tribulus is a traditionally used plant that has aroused great interest for its effects as a general tonic and enhancer of sexual potency. The main active compounds in tribulus are steroidal saponins and protodioscin, which serve as the basis for hormone synthesis. Both phytochemicals have been shown to stimulate sexual desire and function. Protodioscin is converted in the body into DHEA, which increases sexual desire and erectile function.
