Thyme oil is produced in the process of steam distillation of the flowering parts (leaves and flowers) of Thymus Vulgaris or Thymus Zygis. Its liquid can be colorless, yellowish or reddish. The smell is intense, somewhat reminiscent of Thymol. No wonder, because up to 55% of thyme oil content is thymol. Other ingredients are cumin, linalool and carvacrol.
Today, the best thyme oils come from Spain. It should be noted, however, that its properties were already known in ancient Egypt - then it was used, among other things, for embalming corpses. In ancient Greece, it was intended for the strongest - it was said to give courage and bravery.
Thyme oil has versatile uses. It can be used alone or combined with others. It works perfectly as a composition with lavender, bergamot, lemon and pine oil.
Thyme oil is valued primarily for its antiseptic and bactericidal properties. This is because it contains the powerful camphene (once used to disinfect wounds).
But that's not all, because thyme oil also has antispasmodic properties and is also used in rheumatic conditions.
Other properties of this agent include a strengthening effect - mainly for the circulatory system, nervous system and digestive system. Thyme oil strengthens immunity, heart muscle, regulates blood pressure and affects skin condition. It also has a diuretic and carminative effect. It is an excellent expectorant for respiratory infections.
Thyme oil helps to normalize the female hormonal balance. It relieves menstrual pain, prevents premature menopause and reduces nervous tension. The oil also has a detoxifying effect and removes inflammation. It also perfectly regulates the metabolism.
It is also said to have antidepressant properties and improve memory and concentration. It also removes the unpleasant odor of sweat and is insecticidal and antiparasitic. How to use thyme oil:
For the bath : 3-6 drops in a bathtub full of warm water
For massage : 2 drops of essential oil per tablespoon of massage oil
For room aromatization: through humidifiers and atomizers (5 drops per 1 liter of water)
