Kardatuxan, 20 mg, 98 film-coated tablets, Gedeon Richter
Kardatuxan contains the active substance rivaroxaban.
Kardatuxan is used in adults for
- to prevent blood clots from forming in the brain (stroke) and other blood vessels in your body if you have an irregular heart rhythm called non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
- to treat blood clots formed in the veins of the legs (deep vein thrombosis) and in the blood vessels of the lungs (pulmonary embolism) and to prevent the recurrence of blood clots in the blood vessels of the legs and/or lungs.
Kardatuxan belongs to a class of medicines called antithrombotic drugs. It
It works by blocking a clotting factor (factor Xa), thus reducing the tendency of the blood to form clots.
Do not take Kardatuxan:
- if you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Kardatuxan.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
Do not take Kardatuxan if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. If there is a possibility that you could become pregnant, use an effective method of contraception while taking Kardatuxan. If you become pregnant while using this medicine, tell your doctor immediately, who will decide how you should be treated.
Driving and using machines:
Kardatuxan may cause dizziness (common side effect) or fainting (uncommon side effect) (see section 4 “Possible side effects”). You should not drive, cycle or use any tools or machines if you experience these symptoms.
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Talk to your doctor
you or your pharmacist if you are not sure.
You should take Kardatuxan with meals.
Swallow the tablet, preferably with water.
If you have difficulty swallowing the tablet whole, ask your doctor about other ways to take Kardatuxan. The tablet can be crushed and mixed with water or applesauce just before taking it. This mixture should be followed immediately by food.
If necessary, your doctor may administer the crushed Kardatuxan tablet through a tube that reaches the stomach.

- The active substance is rivaroxaban. Each film-coated tablet contains 15 mg or
20 mg.
- The other components are:
Tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, lactose monohydrate,
hypromellose, sodium lauryl sulphate, magnesium stearate. See section 2 “Kardatuxan contains lactose and sodium”.
Film-coating of the 15 mg tablet: macrogol PEG 4000 (E 1521), hypromellose, titanium dioxide
(E 171), lactose monohydrate, yellow iron oxide (E 172), red iron oxide (E 172), triacetin.
Film-coating of the 20 mg tablet: macrogol PEG 4000 (E 1521), hypromellose, titanium dioxide
(E 171), lactose monohydrate, yellow iron oxide (E 172), red iron oxide (E 172), iron oxide
black (E 172), triacetin.
