Description
DoriTri Mint is a medicinal product in the form of lozenges. It contains a local anesthetic, benzocaine, and antibacterial substances, tyrothricin and benzalkonium chloride. It is intended for use in mild to moderate inflammation of the throat and mouth.
Composition
The active substances are: tyrothricin + benzalkonium chloride + benzocaine.
Each lozenge contains: 0.5 mg tyrothricin, 1.0 mg benzalkonium chloride solution and 1.5 mg benzocaine.
Excipients: Sorbitol (E 420); Talc; Sucrose stearate type III; Sodium saccharin; Field mint essential oil with reduced menthol content (with limonene in the composition); Povidone K 25; Sodium carmellose.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist.
The dosage is determined individually, depending on the patient's condition and indications for use.
Adults and adolescents 12 years and older: suck 1-2 tablets slowly every 2-3 hours. Do not exceed 8 tablets per day.
The tablet should not be chewed or swallowed whole. This medication should not be taken immediately before or after brushing your teeth, as toothpaste may reduce its effectiveness.
Action
DoriTri Mint provides comprehensive relief from throat and oral infections. Benzocaine provides rapid pain relief thanks to its local anesthetic properties. Tyrothricin and benzalkonium chloride combat bacteria that may cause inflammation.
Indications
DoriTri mint is intended for local, short-term supportive treatment of mild to moderate inflammatory conditions of the throat and mouth, such as: pharyngitis with sore throat and difficulty swallowing; inflammation of the oral mucosa; gingivitis.
The drug is indicated for use in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older.
Contraindications
The drug should not be used in case of: allergy to tyrothricin, benzalkonium chloride, benzocaine or any of the other ingredients of the drug; allergy to compounds from the paraaminobenzoate group; use on larger, open wounds in the mouth and throat; in children under 2 years of age.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people): Skin hypersensitivity reactions, especially to esters of para-aminobenzoic acid (benzocaine). In sensitive patients, allergy to compounds of the para-aminobenzoic acid group (e.g. penicillins, sulfonamides, sunscreens, p-aminosalicylic acid) may be induced; In allergic patients, hypersensitivity reactions (including respiratory distress syndrome) to peppermint oil may occur; Altered taste perception or numbness of the tongue; Applying tyrothricin to open wounds or abrasions may cause bleeding.
Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people): Local use of benzocaine, especially in children and on larger wound surfaces, has been reported to increase methemoglobin levels in the blood. Possible symptoms include shortness of breath and bluish discoloration of the lips and fingers. Laxative effect due to the sorbitol content, especially in large doses.
Warnings and precautions
Do not take this medicine if you have open wounds in your mouth or throat.
If you have a severe throat infection or a sore throat accompanied by high fever, headache, nausea, or vomiting, consult your doctor before taking this medicine. If these symptoms occur during treatment, discontinue use and contact your doctor.
In case of purulent tonsillitis with fever, the doctor decides whether DoriTri mint can be used as supportive treatment, e.g. in addition to antibiotics.
Patients prone to skin hypersensitivity reactions (such as allergic contact dermatitis) should avoid using this product.
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children, at a temperature below 25°C.
Use of other medications
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, have recently taken or are planning to take.
The effect of the drug may be weakened if toothpaste (containing anionic surfactants) is used concomitantly.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
This medicine should not be used in children under 12 years of age.
