Parsley leaves have the same uses. They also possess a significant emmenagogue effect. Angelica root is also used as a diuretic and is notable for its stimulating action on the secretion of gastric juices, thus toning the stomach. White nettle is used in infusions as a tonic and astringent. The bitter substances of dandelion constitute an excellent tonic and a mild purgative. Its use as a diuretic and depurative is also widespread. Horse chestnut, due to its esculin content, exerts a powerful action on the venous system and on blood circulation in general. Goldenrod is a diuretic plant. Rosemary is mildly diuretic. This latter action is also characteristic of the rhizome of couch grass and stinging nettle.
