Colargol is an antiseptic solution containing colloidal silver as its active ingredient. It has antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and local antiseptic properties. It is usually used intranasally.
Forms of release
Colargol is available in solution form:

- Colargol nasal drops 0.1% solution, from Medes farm
You can also choose Colargol prepared in a pharmacy, with specific concentrations, depending on your doctor's instructions.
Indications for use
Colargol usually has a sanitising effect and is for external use only. Some forms of Colargol or specific concentrations are used as nasal drops, usually for problems such as vasomotor rhinitis and allergic rhinitis, inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, and catarrhal inflammation of the middle ear associated with a cold. Colargol is a product that has a sanitising, mildly germicidal, non-toxic, antiseptic and non-irritating effect. Check the product label, ingredients and concentrations and use Colargol only as directed by your doctor.
Dosage and method of administration
Some forms of Colargol are for external use only, while others are used as nasal drops. Shake the bottle before each use. When used as nasal drops, apply 1–2 drops in each nostril 3 times a day for a maximum of 5 consecutive days. Do not apply to damaged skin or open wounds.
How long to use Colargol: Colargol should be administered for a maximum of 5 consecutive days.
Warning! The product contains silver compounds which, after prolonged use, may accumulate in the skin, causing discolouration. It is therefore recommended for short-term use only.
Contraindications
Do not use Colargol solution if you are hypersensitive to colloidal silver or any of its excipients. The product is contraindicated in people with dry nose, glaucoma, especially narrow-angle glaucoma. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
Interactions with other medicines and food
No interactions between Colargol and other medicines have been reported. However, some data suggest that colloidal silver may reduce the absorption of certain medicines, such as some antibiotics. Do not consume alcohol while taking any other medication.
Side effects
No adverse effects have been reported with the use of Colargol. Do not use this product if you are hypersensitive to any of its excipients.
Overdose
No cases of overdose have been reported with the use of Colargol, but do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve.
Storage
Do not use the product after the expiry date stated on the packaging. Use the product within 12 months of opening the bottle. Close the container tightly after each use.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Keep away from heat, light and prolonged exposure to strong magnetic fields (microwave ovens, electronic devices). After use, do not dispose of the container in the environment.
