Stratamed is a gel-based medical device recommended for treating wounds and preventing abnormal scarring. It contains polysiloxane and siloxane resin.
Forms of release
Stratamed from Synerga Pharmaceuticals is available in the following forms:
- Stratamed, 50 g
- Stratamed, 10 g
- Stratamed, 5 g
Indications for use
Stratamed is indicated to aid the healing process. It reduces the risk of complications, prevents abnormal collagen deposits (leading to hypertrophic scars and keloids) and also protects the wound from bacterial contamination.
It is indicated after surgical incisions or excisions, in cases of first-, second- or third-degree burns (after granulation tissue formation), in cases of acute radiodermatitis, after cosmetic treatments (CO2 laser, chemical peeling, dermabrasion), skin trauma, deep bites and scratches or for various skin lesions.
Dosage and administration
Dosages depend on the type of lesion. For surgical incisions/excisions and first-, second- and third-degree burns, dosages depend on the area. For exposed areas (face, neck, hands, décolleté), two applications per day are recommended. For unexposed areas, one application per day is recommended. After cosmetic treatments (laser, chemical peeling, dermabrasion), 2 applications per day are recommended for 10 days.
How to use Stratamed: Before applying the gel, the skin must be cleaned and disinfected. The application area must be completely dry. Apply the gel to the affected area and massage it into the entire surface in a thin layer. When dry, Stratamed forms a thin, transparent, semi-matt film. If applied correctly, Stratamed dries in about 5 minutes. If a dressing is applied, do not wait for the gel to dry. The dressing can be applied immediately after applying the gel.
How long should Stratamed be used: The duration of treatment is usually 2-3 months or as directed by your doctor.
Contraindications
The product is contraindicated in case of allergy or sensitivity to any of the ingredients. Do not apply Stratamed to infected or tunneled wounds. The product must not come into contact with the eyes or mucous membranes.
Interactions with other medicines and food
In general, there are no known interactions with other medicines or food. Do not apply over other pharmaceutical/cosmetic preparations.
Side effects
The product is generally safe. If any reactions occur, inform your doctor.
Overdose
