Description Anklet

The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.co.uk team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual

Ankle brace is a product designed for both everyday wear and performance athletes. Its role is to retain heat and improve blood circulation in the affected area, ensuring comfort for the wearer and helping to speed up healing.

When is it recommended to wear an ankle brace?

An ankle brace can be worn both prophylactically and curatively.

Prophylactically, it can be worn when premature fatigue of the calf muscles occurs.

Curatively, it should be worn in cases of:

  • Blows, sprains, dislocations, arthralgia, contusions from sports or overexertion
  • Injuries, intermuscular haematomas, partial muscle injuries, myositis, muscle hernias, muscle strains and tears.
  • Acute and chronic pain caused by degenerative diseases, post-traumatic and post-operative conditions
  • After removal of a plaster cast
  • Pain caused by cold.

For which medical conditions is an ankle brace recommended?

The ankle brace is chosen according to the area we want to protect and the problem we have. Medical advice should always be taken into account in medical conditions such as ankle sprains, Achilles tendon ruptures, ankle and foot fractures, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis or hallux valgus (bunion).

What material is an ankle brace made of?

There are ankle braces made of cotton treated with bamboo charcoal to control moisture, unpleasant odours and bacteria. This ankle brace guarantees comfort and safety throughout its use.

Ankle braces can be made of cotton, elastane, polyester or nylon, polyester and latex.

What are the differences between elastic ankle braces and orthopaedic ankle braces?

Ankle braces can be elastic or orthopaedic.

Elastic ankle braces are used preventively and curatively and are designed as an elastic band, made of cotton, without a closure system, with an opening at the top and heel.

Orthopaedic ankle braces, also known as ankle orthoses, are also used for prophylactic and curative purposes. They can be fixed or mobile. They are designed to ensure proper fixation of the ankle and good compression, reducing pain and allowing the skin to breathe. Orthopaedic ankle braces provide additional stability to the joint and have an anatomical shape that makes them comfortable and suitable for everyday wear. They do not cause discomfort when walking and accelerate the recovery process.

Are there ankle braces exclusively for sports?

Yes, there are ankle braces for football or football boots with ankle braces and ankle braces for sports such as basketball, running, tennis, handball, gymnastics, badminton, judo or trail running. The models are adapted to the intensity of use, are for both men and women, and can be used on both the left and right foot, with the exception of football boots with ankle support, which have the ankle support attached to each boot.

What are the contraindications for ankle support?

If rashes or discomfort occur in the ankle area, seek medical advice immediately regarding the use of the ankle brace.

Also, if you experience serious or persistent injuries, stop using the ankle brace immediately and contact a specialist.
