Astarte contains a combination of 4 strains of lactobacilli bacteria that help restore and maintain the vaginal and intestinal flora.

Astarte is used in certain vaginal conditions associated with dysbiosis (alteration of the vaginal flora) secondary to infections or occurring after prolonged antibiotic treatment.

The vaginal bacterial flora is mainly made up of lactic acid-producing bacteria called lactobacilli and Doderlein bacilli. These bacteria, which are normally found in the vaginal flora, help prevent infections by: maintaining a slightly acidic vaginal pH (between 3.4 and 4.5) by producing bacteriostatic and bactericidal compounds that help destroy pathogenic bacteria and by competitively excluding endogenous bacteria that, if they multiplied, could dominate the good (non-pathogenic) bacteria.

Therefore, maintaining a bacterial flora predominantly composed of lactobacilli helps prevent and treat genital infections.

For this reason, during antibiotic treatment or vaginal infections, it is recommended to take lactobacillus capsules concomitantly with the anti-infective treatment to help restore the vaginal flora.

Each Astarte tablet contains lactic acid-producing bacteria and probiotics (fructo-oligosaccharides). The lactobacilli in each capsule are represented by Lactobacillus crispatus 1 billion cfu, Lactobacillus rhamnosus 1 billion cfu, Lactobacillus gasseri 0.3 billion cfu and Lactobacillus jenseni 0.2 billion cfu.

The capsule also contains corn starch used as a bulking agent, vegetable magnesium and silicon dioxide used as an anti-caking agent.

One capsule generally contains a minimum of 2.5 billion CFU (colony-forming units) of live lactic acid-producing bacterial cultures. This amount is recommended by the manufacturer if the capsules are kept in their original packaging at a suitable temperature and used before the expiry date printed on the packaging.

The Astarte dietary supplement is recommended to be taken as follows: One to two capsules per day with sufficient liquid, preferably before the main meals of the day. The tablets should be taken orally. The duration and method of administration vary from person to person depending on your doctor's recommendations.

To date, no adverse reactions have been reported with the use of Astarte dietary supplements. However, if you experience any unpleasant symptoms while using this product, it is recommended that you stop taking it and seek medical advice.

Astarte is contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to any of the ingredients in the product.

This product does not contain certain substances with allergenic potential such as soy, gluten or lactose; however, you may experience an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients. Read the supplement leaflet carefully!

Astarte should not be administered to children under the age of 18.

Astarte can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding only on strict medical advice.

To date, no adverse reactions have been reported that interfere with the ability to drive vehicles and/or machinery.

There are no known interactions with other medications, but as a precaution, it is best to inform your doctor or pharmacist about any supplements or medications you are taking.

Chronic alcohol consumption can contribute to an imbalance in the intestinal and vaginal flora, so it is best to avoid alcoholic beverages.

These supplements are not a substitute for a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
