Dosage
Cestal Plus for dogs is given orally, depending on the animal's body weight.
The recommended dose is 1 tablet per 10 kg body weight, which corresponds to the following amounts of active substances: praziquantel 5 mg/kg, pyrantel embonate 14.4 mg/kg, fenbendazole 20 mg/kg.
No prior diet is necessary, and in case of massive infestation, treatment can be repeated after 14 days. To prevent reinfestation, deworming is recommended every 3 months.
Cestal for cats is administered orally in a single dose equivalent to 1 tablet per 4 kg body weight. This dose is equivalent to praziquantel – 5 mg/kg body weight and pyrantel embonate – 57.5 mg/kg body weight.
Contraindications
Cestal should not be administered in cases of:
- known hypersensitivity to any of the active substances or excipients;
- cachexia (very emaciated animals) due to possible sensitivity to pyrantel.
Special precautions
To prevent environmental contamination and reinfestation, it is recommended to temporarily isolate dogs after treatment for 24 hours and to burn faeces and any parasites that have been eliminated.
Regular cleaning of the area where the animals live is essential. It is recommended to wash hands after handling treated animals.
