Cortizone

Cortisone is a type of corticosteroid/medication. Corticosteroids are used to reduce inflammation in certain areas of the body. These medications relieve oedema (swelling), redness, itching and allergic reactions.

There is a pharmaceutical product called Natural Cortisone from Dacia Plant. It is recommended for reducing discomfort caused by allergic factors by normalising corticosteroid secretion. Allergies can therefore be treated naturally thanks to the blackcurrant in the composition.

Synthetic cortisone is prepared in a laboratory and prescribed as a medicine to treat a wide range of inflammatory conditions or diseases, such as asthma or even arthritis or osteoarthritis.

It is used in the form of a nasal spray or inhalations.

Cortisone is used to treat neurological conditions: inflammatory diseases of the peripheral nerves, myasthenia gravis, vasculitis, temporal arteritis, certain types of headaches (cluster headaches), multiple sclerosis relapses, etc.

Cortisone-based creams or ointments are used to treat a wide range of skin diseases (insect bites, eczema, dermatitis, allergies, rashes, itching of the female genitals, anal itching). Hydrocortisone reduces the swelling, itching and redness that occur in these skin conditions.

With regard to gastroenterological diseases, cortisone is used in certain situations to treat ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease and autoimmune hepatitis.

Cortisone is also used in the treatment of rheumatic and immunological conditions: rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, polymyalgia rheumatica, polymyositis, etc.

Cortisone interacts with some drugs: acetylsalicylic acid, diuretics, anticoagulants, cyclosporine, insulin or oral antidiabetics, etc.

The flu vaccine or the vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) are contraindicated during treatment with cortisone.

Treatment with cortisone may have the following side effects: disruption of the body's hormonal balance, Cushing's syndrome, increased blood pressure, increased susceptibility to infections, increased blood sugar, increased risk of osteoporosis, increased cholesterol levels, tissue necrosis at the injection site, thinning of the skin, neurological and digestive disorders, water retention in the tissues.
