Digenzym

Digenzym is a complex preparation designed to support intestinal transit, through its content of natural fibres (important for maintaining optimal intestinal transit), digestive enzymes (which play a role in processing all food nutrients) and support for the microbiota (intestinal flora beneficial to the body).

Active enzymes – Digenzym plus contains enzymes involved in the processing of all nutrients (proteins, carbohydrates and lipids) into simple compounds that can be used by the body. Protease (22,500 USP) breaks down dietary proteins into amino acids, which are the biologically active form involved in synthesis processes at the cellular level. Amylase (22,500 USP) is involved in the breakdown of starch and is produced physiologically in the body by the salivary glands and pancreas (mostly). Lipase (1,800 USP) is responsible for breaking down triglycerides in food into free fatty acids and glycerol. In order to be digested and processed, lipids must be emulsified, a role performed by bile acids (produced by the gallbladder).

Bovine bile has a similar structure to bile produced by the human body. Digenzym contains 45 mg of cholic acid, one of the bile acids produced naturally in humans, which plays a role in emulsifying lipids, important for their metabolic breakdown.

Fibrulin - Digenzym plus contains 150 mg of fibrulin, which is a natural fibre. Dietary fibre is essential for normal bowel function. Furthermore, many studies have highlighted the link between adequate fibre intake (14 grams of fibre per 1000 kcal ingested) and cardiovascular health, with dietary fibre also contributing to increased HDL (good cholesterol) and reduced LDL (bad cholesterol).

Live lactic cultures - Digenzym plus without sugar contains 7.2 mg of Lactobacillus acidophilus, a beneficial lactobacillus. Our intestinal flora is colonised by millions of beneficial bacteria (making up the intestinal microbiome), which are involved in both the breakdown of certain compounds and the synthesis of vitamins and hormones. In addition, healthy intestinal flora plays a role in the body's immunity, with good bacteria preventing the multiplication of pathogenic bacteria.

Digenzym forte contains a higher concentration of pancreatic enzymes.

Digenzym products (Digenzym plus, Digenzym without sugar, Digenzym forte) are recommended for the treatment of abdominal bloating after main meals or for the prevention of its occurrence. Digenzym helps maintain optimal intestinal transit. Digenzym plus also aids in the emulsification of lipids by bile acids. Digenzym without sugar contains lactic cultures that support the intestinal microbiota.

Intestinal transit disorders, such as diarrhoea or constipation, may occur due to excess enzymes. 

Also, taking high doses of pancreatic enzymes can lead to increased urea and uric acid in your pee. Make sure you stay well hydrated during treatment.

It is recommended to consult a specialist if you experience diarrhoea lasting more than 2 days, possibly accompanied by severe abdominal pain.

Allergies after taking Digenzym plus have been reported very rarely, and the product is not recommended for people with a history of allergy to pork proteins, papain or bromelain. Caution is advised in patients with lactose intolerance.

It is recommended to consult your doctor before taking Digenzym while breastfeeding or during pregnancy.

Do not take Digenzym or consult your doctor if you are undergoing treatment with antibiotics or anticoagulants.
