Fenugreek

Basic principles of healthy digestion: what helps keep your stomach healthy
Description Fenugreek
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.co.uk team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is a plant belonging to the Fabaceae family and is also known as “Greek hay” or “schinduc”. It is a herbaceous plant with a pungent smell similar to lovage.
Fenugreek has been used since ancient times for its medicinal properties. It is considered to have aphrodisiac, tonic and carminative properties (reducing abdominal discomfort by promoting the elimination of intestinal gas).
What are the benefits of using fenugreek?
Fenugreek has been used since ancient times, particularly for its aphrodisiac properties. For example, in Ancient Egypt it was used in the embalming process. In other parts of the world, it has been used not only for its aphrodisiac effect but also as a tonic and carminative; some claim that it also has an effect against hair loss, thus helping to restore hair.
Thanks to its content of vitamins A, B and D, minerals (iron), fibre, biotin and choline, it provides a high intake of nutrients.
Although there is insufficient data to support the medicinal use of fenugreek, some people use it for its benefits on reproductive function, improving lipid and glycaemic profiles, alleviating digestive symptoms (heartburn, constipation, abdominal bloating) and controlling appetite (cravings).
How is fenugreek administered?
Fenugreek is available on the market in various forms, such as fenugreek tea, fenugreek capsules, fenugreek seeds and fenugreek oil.
Fenugreek is also found in spice mixes (garam masala), cosmetics, soap and products that imitate maple syrup.
The method of administration varies depending on the form in which the Schinduful-based preparations are found.
Schinduful tea can be made by infusing the leaves in 250 ml of boiling water, or Schinduful tincture can be made by macerating the plant in an alcoholic solution.
What are the side effects of Schinduful?
Schinduful may have an estrogen-like effect, so it is contraindicated for people with malignant conditions that are sensitive to estrogen hormones.
What are the contraindications for Schinduful?
Schinduful is contraindicated in people who are sensitive or allergic to Schinduful, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in people with known malignant tumours sensitive to oestrogen hormones (such as breast cancer, endometrial cancer) or severe liver and/or kidney disease. Schinduful is not recommended for use in children.
Can it be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Schinduful should not be taken during pregnancy as it can stimulate uterine contractions and may have a teratogenic effect on the foetus. It is not known whether it is excreted in breast milk, so it is not recommended for use during breastfeeding.
Schinduful-based preparations should only be administered on the advice of healthcare professionals with expertise in phytotherapy to ensure its benefits and prevent the risk of adverse reactions.
