Lactosal is a sterile hypertonic solution formulated with sodium chloride and sodium lactobionic acid salt, which has ophthalmic uses.
Lactosal is available on the market in the following forms:
Lactosal is used to lubricate the surface of the eye in cases of ocular oedema. It has a powerful moisturising and antioxidant effect due to its lactobionic acid content, which consists of gluconic acid and galactose.
The active ingredients in Lactosal Free are sodium lactobionate and sodium chloride, and the other ingredients are hydroxyethylcellulose, polyethylene glycol, boric acid, polyvinylpyrrolidone, disodium tetraborate decahydrate, polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene copolymer and water for injections.
Apply 1-2 drops to the conjunctival sac 4 times a day or as recommended by your doctor, then keep your eye closed for 1-2 minutes without blinking.
Lactosal Free is a product intended exclusively for external ophthalmic use. Do not touch the container containing the solution to the surface of the eye or other surfaces to reduce the risk of contamination or injury with the dropper. The emptier the bottle, the more force you will need to apply to dispense the solution. Close the bottle after each use. Do not start treatment with Lactosal Free if you are hypersensitive to any of its ingredients. If you are taking other medicines at the same time, ask your doctor for advice.
